This quote is near the very end of the book, and it does well to show Dellarobia's achievements that she has made throughout the novel. Things look impossible when you've not done them. Also, even though this is a clear cut sign of the negative effect that humans are having on the natural world, they do not listen. Humans have changes the climate of the world, and it has fiddles with the behavior of the butterflies. It is this that caused the butterflies to end up at the Turnbow farm. It says that whatever humans do, regardless of how much the environment and climate changes, they do not and will not change their ways. This quote is saying that humans almost don't care about the environment at all, and that they certainly don'y care about what they do to it. In this section, the two worlds are the civilizations and communities of people, and nature and the butterflies.

This quote summarizes much of what the novel is about: the clash between humans and the environment. With such reluctance to converse, one with the other. There were two worlds here, behaving as if their own was all that mattered. Despite this, she does default to religious thoughts in moment of shock or disbelief in the novel. She does not see religion as a way to bring light and goodness into her life she sees it as something that she only keeps so that she can use it to help her. It also introduces the degree to which Dellarobia is religious. That is not something that a happy person would do. This quote has a distinctly negative tone, as well as stating that she is going to throw her life away. It shows immediately that Dellarobia has a good life (by stating it outright). This quote, appearing on page 1 of the novel, starts the book by telling the reader about who Dellarobia is at the beginning of the story. We are thankful for their contributions and encourage you to make your own.Ī certain feeling comes from throwing your good life away, and it is one part rapture.
